Boost Yourself: The Power Of Redefining Your Rules
Dive into the playbooks and mindsets of modern-day legends, decoding their secrets to mastery from Tim Ferriss' "Tools of Titans". Gain fresh thinking tools to elevate your life.
It’s been quite a while since my last newsletter and I hope you enjoy reading from me again. I needed some time to sort out the many different topics from the book, so I can share them with you in an organized way.
CHANGE YOUR QUESTIONS AND CREATE A MORE EMPOWERED YOU
My last newsletter was about the power of asking different questions and how they might bring unforeseen change. Remember: your questions determine your focus and that ultimately paves your path. Let’s explore what comes next when using this principle.
"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”(Alice Walker)
What I have learned in the past years: the quality of my focus also determines the quality of my life. The better the thoughts and information we absorb, the more empowered we become.
One question that has been guiding my explorations recently is: “If I manage to add more value to the encounters with others, does that automatically add more value to my own life”?
The concept about adding value has become a guiding principle for me. Not just on my newsletter, but also to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I believe focusing on value in our interactions can be a powerful tool for personal growth and helped me redefine my rules. That got me into a complete new reality (see my newsletter "Take Control”).
“Always remember, your focus determines your reality” (George Lucas)
CHANGE YOUR REALITY
“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice”. A statement by Steve Jobs and an important learning by many of the inspiring people featured in the book. We tend to prioritize safety, yet we find ourselves drawn to those who dared to pursue the seemingly impossible.
Changing our situation often seems impossible at first. We're caught in our own reality, shaped by years of conditioning. The key to change lies in understanding that you have a choice. It's a question of challenging your thinking and disrupting yourself. It’s also a question of choosing how you consume your time or letting yourself being consumed by it.
“I think almost everything is made, not born, and that makes people uncomfortable because it puts them on the hook” (Seth Godin)
CHANGE YOUR INPUT
Changing your reality is not only about challenging your status quo, but also about changing your input. The time we have on this planet is finite but we have infinite possibilities for learning. We can decide what thoughts, topics and friends we spend our time on.
Reading one chapter of a book, an article on the internet, or listening to a mindful podcast on a regular basis, adds up and lets you cultivate a personal database of knowledge. This empowers you to make better decisions.
Surround yourself with good people. Spending time with sparring partner friends who are interested in sharing their knowledge and growing together, nurtures a powerful growth mindset on all sides. These relationships provide a constant source of inspiration and push you to take action rather than remaining in your status quo.
All of the above provide you with the power to create your own opportunities, seek out new possibilities and increase your luck surface area.
“You discover your dream (or sense of purpose) in the very act of walking the path, which is guided by equal parts choice and chance” (Maria Popova)
CHANGE YOUR RULES
By changing your input on a continuous level, you begin to realize something important: you're navigating within a set of societal systems and expectations. You have the choice though: will you be consumed by these external forces, or will you create your own rules?
Let's end today's newsletter with some advice from the book:
Break free from societal limitations: Don't let your thinking be confined by made-up rules. Challenge the status quo and embrace new possibilities.
Learn from the best, not the competition: Focus on acquiring valuable skills from those who inspire you, and integrate those learnings into your own journey.
Be proactive, not reactive: Don't settle for the cards you've been dealt. If you want to change the game, move to a different table with fresh possibilities.
Craft your own narrative: Remember, you have the power to rewrite the story. What will your next chapter be?
Rewrite your rules, change your Life!
Yours, Anna
a little thought inspiration for today
“My one repeated learning in life: There are no adults. Everyone’s making it up as they go along. Figure it our yourself, and do it.” by Naval Ravikant

stay tuned - my next newsletter will be all about new rules written by individuals who managed to successfully rewrite their stories
A personal addition: As mentioned above, my newsletter is intended to add value to all of us. Let me know what resonates with you, or if there are any topics you'd like to explore further. Your feedback helps me improve this newsletter. Please don’t hesitate and
